If you are interested to see how larger companies are using open source products this is an interesting read. Most of the large companies that I read about are using MySQL, which is not surprise and the cost of licensing databases takes up a large chunk of any IT budget.

PostgresSQL needs to get a marketing department because their product is not inferior at all to MySQL yet you rarely hear them being mentioned.
