Back in December of ‘98 I bought this game called Half-Life. You should know the rest of the story from there. Best FPS game on the PC ever and arguably the best of any genre. Since then many FPSs have tried to emulate Half-Life, but none have been able to equal it greatness. Sure Quake and Doom are great games, but for the best single-player experience, nothing touched Half-Life. Even the mods based off of it are still going strong (ie. Counterstrike).
Last Summer with the release of the new Half-Life 2 movies it looked like Gabe Newell and his crew were set to steal the stage again. But the game was delayed.
Now we have Far Cry and you owe yourself to get this game if you have a machine that is capable of playing it. It rocks. The graphics and environment completely suck you in. Forewarning though: Hope you have a couple of sick days to use.
Far Cry is an impressive game and sets a benchmark for Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 to beat.
