Nintendo today announced their newest hand-held gaming console, the Nintendo DS. Pictures have been circulating from a USA Today article this morning, and Nintendo’s Press Conference just ended, providing more details.

Some of the features are listed below:

  • 2 Independantly Programmable Screens
  • 1 of the screens is touch sensitive, either with a stylus or your fingertip
  • The DS is backwards compatible with all current GBA games
  • There is a microphone built-in with voice recognition software that allows you to control games with your voice
  • Built-in Wi-Fi for multiplayer gaming, chatting, sharing of drawings, sketches, etc. to everyone around you.

The DS will be available this year in Japan and the USA, and first quarter of next year in Europe and Australia. No price has been set yet however. (analysts estimate around $150 at this time)
