Everyone’s favorite column is back this week and today they talk about surfing the web…with Lynx…ummm…no fun. In any case, if you are bored and left without a GUI well then Lynx might be your only option. Sort of like being stuck in a storm shelter and having nothing to eat but saltine crackers. In times of emergency, you just have to use the tools available.

1lynx is a valuable tool for testing, because it lets you see your webpage the way search engines see it, and the way screen readers see it.
Wouldn’t want to use it as my primary browser, but it does have its benefits.

3Not really… try it sometime. If it’s a CSS site, you can get a little bit by viewing in browser with CSS turned off and images turned off, but something like lynx is the best way to get what a screen reader would give you, all in a glance.
