I would like to think he put knives in a plant for the town since that’s what they were anyway… A power source LOL. Also why did wolf ask him his real name??? I mean they called him Vash right from childhood so what is that all about? And when he says I can’t stop till I find this man your looking for early on made me think he was impersonating Vash… I loved the whole story line but for him to become what he hated most by killing dude that attached his arm (creepy) was pointless couldn’t he have just knocked him out? I would have thought that killing knives would have been his first kill. Also in the beginning he dodges all kinds of bullets and at the end he’s getting shot by everyone and there mom what up with that too? I think they had a brilliant story line for a few seasons but had to quickly end it cuz they where only gonna get one season… Also wolf tapped that Amazons Ass it should have showed her prego wolf should have never died he was and still is the best character in the series… The Black preacher will ride again someday… Or maybe just in my head LOL

**SPOILER ALERT**Just finished watching, and though it didn’t have the worst ending in the world it still left a lot to be desired. The endings are soooo important to me, but I think I can live with this one, I was half expecting a sad and terrible ending, and that didn’t happen… So I can be at peace with it. I wonder if now Vash has taken Knives back to that little village if knives will no longer be a threat? I mean he DID shoot his legs and arms, perhaps he can no longer use them and now he will take care of him like Rem said??? Juuust a theory. ;)

I just finished watching it and I liked the ending. When I heard all the negative stuff being said about the ending I was expecting something incredibly confusing/bad like the ending to NGE. This was alright though. I’d give the series 3.5/5 stars.

@yozmama: I feel for you; it sounds like it was a difficult relationship, although it is still great that Trigun was able to connect to you in that special way! It makes me admire the series all the more… it’s such a great story no matter who watches it, when or where!

As for the nature of the ending, it was first and foremast badly paced, like yozmama had mentioned. And more importantly, the “ending” is DEFINITELY fanfic-worthy. As in, there are more questions raised than answered. There’s the big question of what Knives is going to end up doing once he regains consciousness (or if he does at all–geez, anything can happen when you’re left to make it up yourself, which the producers obviously decided).

I felt like the series had a lot of flaws concerning filler-ish episodes, up to halfway through the season, but such an open-ended (read: half-hearted) ending for what was obviously an immensely-deep and involving conflict has me convinced: even though it’s inspired, Trigun the anime has some fatal flaws.

Makes me want to pick up the manga all the more! XP Gotta support the original, too, guys!! ;)

Look it was a great ending. The whole episode though went a little to far with the recap of the whole series. I mean I liked the whole explanation of his history but when it showed the recap of the whole season for like a quarter of the show its like aww come on. I mean in episode 13 the whole episode just showed recaps of the past episodes. You can only do that on a show that’s been around for a few season. But this only had 1 season so it wasted time in the last episode. Seems like the writers got lazy. They could have extended the fight seen or at least had something where knifes could have been like “this is how our world will be like with just you and me” when they were in the little paradise. Idk just little more dialogue from knifes would have been nice cuz he ws a big character and yet he was barley in the show. I haven’t read the comic so idk if he’s in that one more or not but he should have been talking allot more in the last episode. Would hve been cooler. But anyway the ending was cool cuz Vash finally stopped worshiping this girl that he only knew for like a year. It’s funny cuz my ex-girl friend never got over here dead boyfriend that died in a car crash a while back before we got together and that kinda wrecked our relationship. So it kinda relates. Made the ending kinda give hopes to here cuz i really always hoped she could get past her past and move on. Hopefully it wont take 130 years though haha. But all in all it was a great show great ending.

He didn’t kill Knives at all. It was an incredible anime!! I’m so upset we didn’t get to see a kiss out of Vash and Meryl or even Wolfwood and Milly. Shame that only at the end Vash realised how much Meryl resembled Rem in her morals and physical appearance.
I really wanted the whole thing to be wrapped up like who will know what Knives will do when he wakes up. It would not make sense for Knives’ character to just go along with Vash’s plan.
Maybe it’s a vicious cycle…
Also how could Meryl and Vash even work when Vash will live on…

Vash did not kill Knives! He simply stopped him….Thats why Knives was bandaged and Vash was carrying him. He was “taking care of Knives” as he was told to do by Rem. He abandons his gun and jacket also…ready to start a new future. I really want to know what happens afterward…like how does Knives react when we gains consciousness…And do they really end up living in that town? grrr why do animes have to enddd?! T___T

woah woah woah. vash didnt realize “he might have to kill people.” he didn’t kill knives! why would he put bandages on him. he just learned that mistakes happen and that the great part of being human was that you can reconcile those mistakes. he did that by NOT killing knives. and vash wasn’t a pacifist he used a frigging gun. that’s not pacifist. he just didnt KILL anyone. pacifists avoid any time of violent confrontation. yes Vash tried not to use his gun, in the anime anyways, but he did when he had too.

trigun was my favorite anime. but the manga is a million times better. easily. go buy every issue and read them and love them. the anime was great, the manga is greater.

DieToWin, if you read Djinx’s post and thought about it, you’d understand.

Basically Vash realized he might have to kill to protect others, and no it doesn’t defeat the point of his character, it shows that he’s changed for the better. Let’s face it… if our race was always pacifist, we would never have evolved/survived.

I was a bit confused about the Meryl scene in episode 25 (I think).. because Wolfwood was talking about reincarnation before he died so I thought that meant Meryl was actually Rem. I’d like to think so.. cause now Vash can finally get it on with her.

I didnt like the ending, I LOVE the anime though, I love Trigun. But it ended with him saying something like “Rem, I will continue to believe in you, but I will turn to my own words for guidence now.” So… does that mean he is gonna start killing people now… doesnt that kinda defeat the point of his character throughout the anime…

I Saw the ending of trigun and was kind of dissapointed. It left you hangin, not really knowing what happens. But I was wondering If there was a second season coming out. I heard it was called “Trigun Maximum”. You guys ever hear of that?

yeah… after the 26 episode of Trigun somebody else took over an renamed it “Trigun Maximum” and made some xtra episodes… but after what I know “Trigun Maximum” only exist in manga… to bad, so sad :’(

Anyone who didn’t like the ending to Trigun just didn’t understand it. There was a lot of symbolism used in the series, particularly regarding the characters and their themes. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but I think I can say that what happened in the end was Vash finally accepting part of Wolfwood’s philosophy.

Here’s the deal: the manga series Trigun was renamed Trigun Maximum to drive up sales (it wasn’t very popular in Japan, but here in America where cowboys are a stronger cultural influence, it was a sensation). When it was made into an anime, the manga had not ended. The anime had to come up with their own way to wrap up the storyline, and did not have the original writer’s input on it. This happens from time to time in anime (see Kenshin, countless others).

I liked the ending of Trigun. It fit the characters.

Oh, Scrivs, for shame. :-) The moment my bf saw the first episdoe, he bought the entire series. ;-)

At any rate, what’s interesting is that the manga comic has very major twists that is NOT in the anime.

For example, the ending and certain characters have QUITE the different outcome. :-D It’s hard to say which one is better. So beatniklew, for your disgruntled friend, I would point him/her to the comic book store post haste!

I am ashamed to say that I have yet to see this one even though it has been recommended to me a 1,000 times. Everytime I have the $$$ I seem to get transfixed by some other series so Trigun always gets put on the backburner. Looks like I am running out of excuses.
