It’s deff become a crime that people are abusing this service. Fake address, spam posting, and the likes. People get abusive about this stuff. It’s too bad there’s people out there that scam when the rest of us are following the rules. Props for helping to stop link spamming, I have to delete posts in my congas frequently for spamming without actually using a link.

ask family and friends? Post on sites that don’t care about being spammed with hundreds of links? Join through a conga that already exists so you get links through it? post on any of the message boards set up specifically for people like you to post their links? I’m fairly sure we link to a few in scrivs’ initial post. Or you could do what a few enterprising folks have done — buy google adwords, pay a few pennies per click and get your signups that way. Not sure how well it works, but it’s a pretty cheap solution that doesn’t even require you to have a website.

I’m going to be kind and remove your email address from your post. I really don’t think you want to get the amount of spam that would subject you to.

Please try to understand, Brendon… we’re not trying to be jerks about this, but we get *tons* of people who don’t read the posts, just google for posts like this, come in, dump their links, and go on to the next one. It gets just a little tiresome. The congas aren’t as bad as the referrer links, but they’re getting to be a bit much.

we’re trying to provide quality content without a bunch of clutter. We like to think we’re achieving that. I don’t think anyone particularly enjoys trying to pick out occasional real comments surrounded by “come join this great conga line I found” which invariably has only a single person on it, the person who posted it.
