I was going to wait till my iPod shipped before I wrote an entry on this, but since I am caught up in the freeipods onslaught and probably the limited shortage of new 20GB iPods out there, I figured I would get this up and pass along the resources.

Thanks to JC for the info. If you are going for $ value the 24″ is the way to go, but for cool factor select the 27″ Wega or 15″ LCD TV.
It seems this might be easier to achieve than the free iPod since everyone and their mom has yet to signup for it. Like the iPod post I will keep everyone updated as to where I stand. Currently I have 4 confirms and need 4 more.

The 15″ Arrives
I finally got the 15″ LCD TV. I chose that over the 27″ Wega simply because I was in no mood to lug that thing around. I will try to get pictures up eventually, but just to let you know like the free ipods, this is the real deal.
And just like the iPod thread the comments are not to be used to place your referral link. There are plenty of other places where you can do that.
Why do you think the Sony 27″ gets the cool factor?
I myself chose the TV/DVD/VCR combo but was just wondering why you thought the Sony wins on the cool factor?
If it was a 27″ Wide Screen with a LCD type dimension to it, i would agree but the 3″ and the VCR+DVD featured easily make the Toshiba the one to get.
I don’t know, right when I see “VCR” I just get turned off and all those combinations makes me think that the unit will be kind of clunky. I haven’t seen it in person so let me know if I am wrong.
Uh, doug, I think you might be a little confused… or maybe your prose is just off a bit. The toshiba is 24 inches, the wega is 27. That’s a 3 inch detriment, not bonus.
Having a built-in DVD and VCR is nice as a space saver, and those PURE screens are supposed to be very, very nice, but the problem with TVs that have built in DVD or VCR is that DVD players and VCRs have a much shorter lifespan than a CRT… so eventually, the laser on your DVD player won’t focus right, the VCR will eat video tapes, and you can’t go in and fix/adjust either one because it’s inside the TV, and then you have a TV with one or two useless appliances attached.
That said, I might go for it anyway, just because my TV stand is too small for a 27 inch. But then, a new TV stand isn’t that expensive, and a bigger TV to play video games on would be nice. heh.
does it usually take a few days for your offer completed thing to show up? I’ve signed up for the aol broadband, and done the ebay thing, and neither one has been approved yet.
Derek – You might have disqualified yourself. You only do one link. And if you read the popup that appears when you click on the offer to do it, it tells you how long it takes to confirm a given offer. Both of those are 2-3 days I think.
I didn’t do them under the same account, I did one for me, then signed my wife up under me, with a different address. I didn’t see any pop-ups, was using firefox to do it. IE wouldn’t work for me.
that works then. :-) The site doesn’t work very well with FireFox. I had to switch to IE on the ipod one to place my order, the button press wouldn’t even work with FF
When I tried IE, it kept saying that I needed to pick which monitor I wanted. Even though I picked one. And refreshed the page several times. So I just did Firefox.

im going wiht the 15inch magnavox. itll look cool haning on my apt. wall. anyboyd having problems completing an offer? everytime i try it says “not logged in”, but i am logged in.

Memo, are you using Internet Explorer? That’s the best thing to do to make sure they work right.
The TV’s are all NTSC. Which is going Bye Bye in 4 years. In about 2 to 3 years all broadcast will be ATSC (HDTV) and most Cable Systems will be full on. The TV’s won’t have much lifespan for anything more than a spare TV for the kids.
I am opting for the LCD monitors.

Hopefully I’ll get mine before too much longer… I hope to god they deliver it to my door though, the idea of lugging a 27 inch wega up 4 flights of stairs does not appeal to me… the 21 inch monitor was bad enough.
Sweet, congrats on getting the 15″ LCD/TV! I’m only completed referral away myself. I chose the 27″ WEGA because I don’t really watch TV, so the 27″ will sit here on my desk with it hooked to the TV-Out on my video card. Should make for some nice gaming. :)

Conga lines don’t work!!! They only help the people at the top of the list. By the time your referral link gets anywhere near the top, no one will be interested in the product anymore. There is a site that lets you post your referral link right away so you can get referrals while the products are sill hot. It posts one link at a time for each product so you have a monopoly on those referrals for the day! Check it out at http://www.freeipodspost.com I used it for the new ipod nano and got all 5 referrals in less than a day!
