It’s been debated for years, but now there is “proof“; Mac users really are smarter than PC users.
At least, they use a larger vocabulary and better spelling, according to the small sampling that Paul Murphy took from various messageboards including Slashdot and PC Magazine’s Forums.
But even though the Mac users rated higher, they were still only rated at a 6th grade elementary school level of writing skill. The PC users were rated at below a 5th grade level. This is pretty sad for both parties, but I suppose most people don’t write on messageboards the same way they’d write their school english paper.
Also, though it wasn’t measured in the article, I’m sure the PC users could write their text twice as fast as the Mac users, and they could probably print it on twice as many different printers that they built themselves with spare parts from their garage. On the other hand, the Mac user’s text was much easier to read and understand, and had been set using much more skillful and attractive typography. :)
