I have said it multiple times in the past. If you are still using CVS, you owe it to yourself to go check out Subversion. It’s CVS++.

This article will help get you up to speed by offering tips that many CVS users would find really helpful in getting them started with Subversion.

hmm. is there a way to use it with dreamweaver and with websphere application studio?

Great question JC. I do not have a great answer to provide you with though. I am sure there is a way and I am sure you are the man to find out that way.

  3. JC says:

yeah. We’re looking to change from VSS to something a little more robust and a lot less clunky, but it has to work with both dreamweaver and websphere appdev/eclipse. Funny you posted this today, I just searched in here for all the source control posts yesterday.

There are no plugins for those IDE’s, however we (and a lot of people) just use TortoiseSVN, which is a windows explorer plugin for Subversion. This means that anyone with Windows Explorer can checkout/checkin/etc. This nulls any worries over IDE’s and makes it easy for designers using photoshop, business analysts using visio and developers using VS/Websphere/Eclipse!
