When I try signing up for the blockbuster account I notice that it doesn’t have the blockbuster URL…any idea why?

Also, I signed up with two email accounts because I didn’t want to use the one I signed up with for the first account, I did not however sign up for any offers, will this effect me on recieving and IPOD?

Christina, signing up and completing an offer is only the first step. Once you complete an offer, you must get five friends to do the same using your referral link. Once you have done that and all referrals are clearly listed in the status area of your account as having been completed, then you are eligible for the free iPod.

man! am very mad because i sign up for a freeipod and sign up for bmg music to complete the offer and still i have not! recieve my freeipod. I sign up on 11/04/04 and by today 4/25/05 i have to not receive my freeipods! what the problem? and what should i do?!! it been so long i have not receive my freeipods :( please helps me!

Do they check the referal links CC and mailing address info? I let a few of my friends use my CC info on some of there offers. It should still work right? They put in legit emails and used there address for the free ipod info but used my info to complete the offer.

I was just wondering, These are 4th generation 20gb ipods right. The new ones with the games.

Second question, are these the second generation of ipod minis, the ones that now have 18 hour barery life, instead of 8 hour.

So, they approved my account, and they are processing my order. They told me it would ship in 6-8 weeks. Does that means I DID to it correctly (I did do it honestly, that’s for sure)? OR does ‘processing’ mean they are checking it even more/ may put it on hold… etc? Thanks

It can take up to 5 days or so, like they say on the site. Then a month or two to actually receive the item.

You can create a new account to another free site, with the same address, but you can’t do the same offer with them.

It’s not a scam.
I’m currently in the minimac offer but I’ve found the best way to do this.
Bribe your friends. The MacMini they offer retails at $599. A few good friends signed up for me for free, and I’m telling the rest that I will pay them $20 dollars. 3 signed up for free, and I’m estimating that I’ll pay 7 people since the macmini requires ten referrals.
Seven people X $20 = $140
approx $600 – $140 = I’m saving $460
I know most people want to get things COMPLETELY free, but I’ll take a huge discount any day. Besides, if I choose to do another offer, I have these people’s trust and they will most likely undergo another one for free.
It works if you’re willing to throw down some money or offer other favors to your friends.

I had the same question as J. Poon. I can’t think of anybody that would actually believe this and sign up for it, and i guess now you have to have 10 referrals to get it. Also, I’m only 17, so I signed up for the blockbuster thing and just had my mom put in all of the account information. When doing this she put all of her information in, does this matter, or will freeipods not recognize the information because it doesn’t match their sites. Finally, I was going to suggest that you guys should start a list of people who are about to sign up anyways, that way you could use them as a referral…

Norgus, even if you had 5 different email accounts, you’d still have to sign up for and complete the offers… since most of the offers require a physical address and/or a credit card… you could probably get one past it… but I wouldn’t bother. I konw one person who had faked two of their signups when ebay was an option (since it didnt require a credit card and didnt confirm the mailing address)… but they ended up getting 20 signups anyway… so it didnt really matter.
You have to figure they’ll consider it suspect if your referral never refers anyone else, and never logs into their account looking for signups, and generally doesnt follow normal expected usage patterns. not sure how much detail they put into tracking that stuff, but it wouldn’t be hard if you had a good program to compare the data with

They verify each referral by hand, checking IP addresses, mailing addresses, etc. A lot of people have had their accounts suspended for trying to fool the system.

crw, try it with IE. Even IE mac should work. Their site sucks in safari and firefox, though they’re working on fixing it. Have all the bad vibes you want… but it works, and apparently they don’t even spam you anymore (though you have to decline a half dozen mailing lists during the signup process, that’s still better than them just automatically selling your email)

They’re a legit company, they’ve been around for years doing assorted ‘free’ things in return for signing up for offers… the freeipods, freeflatscreens, and freedesktoppcs are a bit different than their older ventures… much less confusing, and easier to complete. So far on the FG staff, Paul, Derek, and I have ours, as well as at least 3 of our friends and family that I’m aware of. They’ve been written up in Wired and CNN, both of which backchecked them… it’s a legit deal.

The offers aren’t as good as they used to be… but the blockbuster one’s pretty decent and if they offer RealRhapsody that’s a good one.. except you might be tempted to keep it after you use it, but then, that’s good. :-)

You have to refer 5 friends, and you don’t have to buy anything, though a credit card is required to sign up for most of the offers. I signed up for Blockbuster, cancelled it in a week, and haven’t been charged a dime.

There isn’t a guarantee of stock, hence the over 1 month period of time I had to wait. Not bad for a free $300 iPod.

As for privacy policy, they do definitely spam the crap out of the email address you give them, so just give them one you don’t mind getting spam at.
