Before the release of the G5, PC fans always had the upperhand in the performance debate against Apple fanatics mostly because PCs outclocked the G3/G4s signifiicantly. With the release of the G5 2.5GHz Mac that upperhand disappeared since everyone is now working within 1GHz of each other if you ignore the crazy people who like to overclock their PCs to 6Ghz. Of course all of this means nothing without actually seeing some benchmarks comparing all the systems and this is where Bare Feats comes in.
They run tests comparing P4s, Xeons, XPs, Opterons, and G5s and in most of the test the G5 comes out on top compared to similarly clocked systems. So if performance is one of the things preventing your from trying out a Mac then maybe this site will help allay your fears.

1I would like to see you put the FX- processor from AMD that goes 2.6ghz against it. Or even the fx that goes 2.4ghz. You used a processor that is on top but yet not the top of it, and you used the highest G5 against it, isnt thta skewed? I believe so, you skewed the results. Not only that, the archectectures are differnet and on different hardware. And IBM makes the processor in G5. And guess what? the SOI technology? partnered by IBM and AMD. Oh forgot, hypertransport, developed at AMD. Apple needed help, so they asked their competition for help, ie. IBM indirectly AMD.

2so far an article posted in october, you’re taking issue with it not using processors that probably weren’t out yet at the time? And even better, getting pissy with us as if we wrote the article you don’t like? Get a little perspective, bucko.

4dunno about u boys but no matter what tests come out i think its still personal choice hehehe, resuslts dont seem to change ppls mind, ive spent big $$ proving ot my friend and there still jubious so no matter the top[ic u can only host ur oppinion its a waste of time arguing it in my eyes.
i built a amd x2 3000 on vapochill cooling overclocked to 3gighz ( dual core so 6gighz procession power)
2 gig xms paired 522mhz ram on a asus a8n with a 6800gt ( agp board) 2 raptor 74 gig drives and 160 gig hitachi for logical storage hence on a outdated vid card clocking over 200 fps in doom 3 video stress test, and rendering video much faster than mates p4 running at 4000 mhz with as much bling bling as mine. in the end its all shits n giggles and dollars ehhehe just enjoy what u got as next week its outdated hahhaah

5Go ahead and spend your hard earned money on intel and mac. you’ll spend more money and get less for the bang. AMD is the way to go all others are losers in the fight. Real sad to see intel pairing up with mac because they can’t compete with AMD!!!
