IGN got their hands on the new, tiny PSTwo, and took a couple of pictures with it next to an Xbox and the Xbox controller, which is almost larger than the entire PSTwo.
They said overall the system is great and tiny. It’s virtually silent, compared to the wind tunnel sound of the original PS2. The smaller size does make a few accessories obsolete however, like the Hard drive and multi-tap add-ons. However, it does include an ethernet port and modem, which used to be bulky accessories.
The smaller design also makes dealing with the Logitech wireless controller adapter awkward, since the adapter actually props the PSTwo up off of the ground.
Another thing of note is that the warranty on the PSTwo is now 1 year instead of 90 days like the original PS2, so your PSTwo should last under warranty until the PS3 comes out.

2My only concern with the PSTwo is the possiblity that the cables and such will be heavier than the actual system, and I may actually have to weigh the damn thing down so it doesn’t slide around or something. I’ll see when I get one.

8i already got one and it is extremly quiet , there isnt really any weight to it and the cable has a 8.5v adaptor to keep it cool i think it doesnt have a fan ..it definatly doesnt over heat ive been playing it 24-7 cause i got gta san andreas ..my old ps2 clapped out and couldnt read games n e longer so i spent £104 on this little beauty and it is just simply the best…my advice go buy 1 before christmas …definatly will be a sell out

9no one said anything about how it compares to the xbox about capabilities. the only thing compared to it was size and sound. i want to kno what is better bcuz i was a hard core ps2 fan all the way and now i’m kinda feelin the xbox since i dont have a ps2 anymore. so what do you think i should get the xbox or ps2?

10reading the above comments – the new PsTwo doesn’t slide around, I have one and the feet are rubbery and keep it stuck in place. It’s small but not flimsy. Also, yes it is pretty much silent but is *does* have a fan – albiet a small and quiet fan but there is one. And I agree, it does not overheat at all. Overall a great improvement – the only thing is some accessories are odd – the wireless Logitech controller is one to note – the receiver end come to be lower than the pstwo so it isn’t really a great option. I’d like to see a redesign from Logitech but not sure how likely that is…
