After months of speculation and wild guesses, Sony finally announced that the PSP will be available on December 12th in Japan for 19,800 yen ($185 USD). The US/European release will be sometime in early 2005. There is also a bundle that will be available for 26,040 yen ($243 USD) that includes a Memory Stick Duo, and a set of Headphones with a remote control.

Sony also noted that the battery life of the system will be in the 4-6 hour range, which is quite a bit less than the estimated 6 – 10 hours for the “Nintendo DS”:http://forevergeek.com/games/nintendo_ds_details.php.

There will be 21 games available by the end of the year, including:

* Vampire Chronicle The Chaos Tower
* Need For Speed Underground Rivals
