Pacman is no longer confined to the stringent pixels of the arcade game. Researchers in Singapore have release him into the wilds of virtual reality.
By combining wireless local area networking with Bluetooth and GPS technology, head-mounted displays and inertia sensors, [Dr. Adrian] Cheok and his team were able to bring Pacman to life.
The research team’s next step will be developing the Human Pacman for mobile devices. They hope to have a mobile phone-based version in two years.
