Many people are probably sick of these free “something” deals, but people are only talking about them because they work! I’ve received a free 20gb iPod, as have 2 of the other FG authors. I just submitted my free photo iPod account for approval yesterday, so I should be receiving that soon as well.
And now, you can get a “free Nintendo DS”:http://www.ds4free.com/default.aspx?r=91871. You only have to sign up 4 people, or five if you want a free game with the system. And if you choose the game, you yourself also have to sign up for 2 offers, in addition to the 5 that you get from other people. Probably not worth it to try for the game, in my opinion, since they only cost $30 at the store.
The Nintendo DS just came out yesterday, and is already selling out at most stores. There were over 2 million pre-orders, and they can’t even make enough to keep up with demand. So not only will you get a DS with this offer, you’ll get it free!
There are a few more offers available for this one than there are for the FreeiPods one, so you can probably find one that will work for you. Many of them are free as long as you remember to cancel the offer before you are charged. I’ve personally done Blockbuster, AOL Broadband, InFone, and Ancestry.com, with no problems from any of them.
Here are the offers available to sign up for:
* The New York Times (Order any subscription)
* Blockbuster (Sign up for the 2 week trial)
* AOL 9.0 with Music Net (Sign up for free trial)
* AOL 9.0 Optimized (Sign up for free trial)
* AOL Broadband (Sign up for free trial)
* Gleaming White Smile (Order free trial)
* Video Professor (Order free cd)
* Choice Rewards Visa Platinum (Get approved for card)
* BMG Music (Join the music club)
* Petcare Rx (Order over $20.00)
* Jevene (Order free sample – $7.95 shipping)
* Vonage (Sign up for any long distance phone plan)
* iDish (Sign up online and be approved)
* MyInks (Order over $30)
* My Daily Dose (Order free trial)
* Nexiderm (Order Free Trial)
* Trimlife (Order free Sample)
* Columbia House DVD (Choose DVD’s and Sign Up)
* GM Card (Be approved for the card)

Now that is really a bugger: not the deal itself, that is two thumbs up, but that it’s once again only available in the US :-(
heh. too funny. I just ran across this in my RSS reader adn thought… man, I need to send this to derek to post… then I realized I was on FG, not gizmodo, and you already had.
:-)
I’m still a little iffy on these guys… gratis is an established company… who knows with these guys? But they have a half dozen sites that seem to be well designed, so maybe they’re worth a shot.
Very tempting. I totally forgot the damn thing came out yesterday. I’ll be right back…
Well if anyone has any questions on it I just bought 2 so let me know.
Scrivs has 4 hands! That’s how he can manage having so many web sites going on all the time! :)
Anyone know of any of these free deals that work in the UK?
I love nintendo ds
Thanks for posting this. It’s reassuring to know that it most likely isn’t some scam or something. A friend of mine got a free I pod (it should arive today), so that along with this made me decide to go for it. Well that and the fact that I want a DS badly.
