The Rasterbator

rasterbator The Rasterbator

The Rasterbator is a web service which creates huge, rasterized images from any picture. The rasterized images can be printed and assembled into extremely cool looking posters up to 20 meters in size.

The Rasterbator is very easy to use. You can either upload a file from your computer or use any file that is publicly available in the Internet. After you have cropped the image and selected a desired size, the rasterbated image will be sent to you as an easily printable pdf file.

Rasterbating will ruin your black ink cartridge in a hurry.

  2. Surely that’s a small price to pay Netaku?

That is really cool. As I live in a loft apartment, there’s a lot wall space to fill. Hmmm…

  4. Loft Apartment + Very Large, Monochromatic Poster = Perfect!

I just put a 4*4 (A4) poster up in the office. In true geek fashion, it’s The Matrix! :-)

Could be quite a nice use of the free printouts I get at college, I wonder how close to the edge the lazer printers there go… :D

Oh yeah, I just have to ask. Whats special about this over just hugely enlarging an image using photoshop or something? Does it have exceptional scaling?

  6. Norgus says:

Ah, excuse my foolishness. I didn’t realise this thing turned your image into a series of vector dots.

Pretty cool, although I am finding a 4 page thing to be waaay too small to look good.

    Perhaps 6 or 8…

I love the rasterbator… haha, I’ve made a few every once in awhile, in fact I have to put together a color one, and I just put up this one

It is a small price to pay, DarkBlue, but last time I tried to Rasterbate something my black cartridge gave out 20-something pages in, ahaha. Nothing quite like a 5×5 picture of Spider-Man that’s 1/3 light-pink.

I did an 8 page one of Naruto which came out pretty well. I kinda have an urge to do a big one now.

It took me a while but I finally rasterbated something. Don’t bother if you’re not an anime fan ;)

Indeed a cool toy — I did Dita van Teese in 7×5 A3 poster (yes, that’s 3m x 1.5m) for our kitchen wall. Then a friend offered to professionally print this on some plastic mesh (which ist normally used for trade fair booth decoration) — so it’s without the 5mm print borders on each sheet. \o/

I’ll try and get some pictures up real soon!

i’m a frequent rasterbator. it almost becomes an addiction. some of my friends tell me thats something you do in the privacy of your own home, but i just want to tell the world.
