The reviews are finally starting to pour in for World of Warcraft. “Metacritic”:http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/worldofwarcraft/ is reporting an average of 94% so far. Most notably, “Gamespot”:http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraft/review.html?q=1&tag=gs_hp_flashtop_bg gave the game a 95%, with the following sentence to sum it up:
This is a stunning achievement that will make you feel privileged to be a game player.
The 95% rating is higher than Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Far Cry, GTA San Andreas and basically every other blockbuster game out this year. It’s the highest rating a PC game has received in the last 2 years at Gamespot, and the second highest rating ever given for a PC game at the site. Second only to Blizzard’s other game, Diablo.
If that isn’t enough to convince you that this game is not to be missed, then I don’t know what would. I was planning on skipping it myself because of a lack of time to devote to the game, but the Gamespot and other reviews mention over and over that the game is great, no matter how much time you can invest. There is even a system in place so that if you don’t play for a few days, you will receive a boost in your experience gains the next time you play. The longer you are “resting”, the longer your experience boost will last, which lets you catch up to the players that were playing during the time you were taking a break.
Plus the fact that it works on Macs or PCs out of the box, means you have no excuses for not playing this one.
When considering Gamespot’s reviews, I like to think about the fact that they gave Halo 2 a .2 higher grade than Half-Life 2. Then I get a fuzzy feeling of “WTF!? Halo 2 sucked!” in my cockles…
Indeed, that is a little fishy. But Gamespot has traditionally more harsh reviews than most other sites, so it’s a pretty good gauge.
Well I have no beef with the reviews. I just have beef with actually trying to find the fucking game in a store.
I’ll probably wait a few months before I buy it. Let them iron out all the kinks and get a few updates out the door. Plus I have some projects to finish up, and if I buy the game first, they’ll never get done. :)
Try going to a ghetto mall. If you don’t know what a ghetto mall is, it’s a mall in a poor area where Sears is the most luxurious department store. Poorer people play games too, but don’t generally have a taste for MMORPGs: Game stores there may have surpluses of World of Warcraft. That’s how I got mine couple of days after release, and the guy working there told me that I was the first to buy that game.
I picked it up last evening and played for a few hours – took today off work and played all day. I’m really enjoying it — highly recommended if you’re an EQ refuge or looking for a new MMO to get into.
Its given me that “oooo, wow!” feeling I havent had since the first time I ran a character from Butcherblock to Kelethin (discovering Kelethin completely by accident), and havent gotten from SWG, AO or any of the others I’ve tried out.
God, I’m a dork — but if you’ve spent any time in games of this type you’ll know what I mean.
Having being wrongly banned from Lineage 2, I searched for another game to take up time I did not have to give. I work at Sam Goody so I had seen people buy the game constantly, so I decided to pick it up. IT IS AWESOME. If you don’t play this game, u haven’t experienced the meaning of MMORPG
This game is fucking insane. When i was playing it i was like “wow this game is so fucking isane.”

Well, this game sounds right up my alley. I’m comin’ off of EQ now, since EQI kinda got old and EQII is lame, and WoW sounds like it’s just the game to replace my EverCrack addiction.

As an avid fan of WarCraft series, the anticipation for the game was tremendous. In all accountability, I had no choice but to buy the game because Blizzard is truely the only sure fire great, accountable and responsible gaming company out there. When it’s done isn’t a time table, it’s a a degree of care; art comes to mind. I’ve never experienced a game on this scale, playability and beauty.
Holy shit….this game is insane in the membrain…all i can say is” OMFG its a must have… i will say i am proudly a nerd and a huge FAN of ORPG’s and i have to say this is the most detailed and most fucking crazy ass fun shit i have ever seen. this just blows everything away with eazyness…buy it…who cares about fucking school and fucking hanging out….:)))

just got the game a few days ago…. now i have to buy three more computers and three more of the game and three more accoutns with them. the whole family has fallin head over heels for it. i have played never wintersnight and city of hero. not anymore WOW is the game.

i am really enjoying wow and what surprises me is that even my bro got into it and he made fun of me when i played wc3 and diablo2 now hes just as much a dork playing for 4-6 hours a day convincing me that this is the best game ive ever played and prolly will play in the next 10 years unless blizzard will outdo themselves again which is prolly the only trustable company for a qaulity game except for starcraft.
