Acquisition looks alright. You can't really go wrong with Gnutella, so it has my vote (installed, but I haven't used it yet).

But do you really need anything other than bittorrent? Free, native to just about every platform, easy to use. If you don't like the barebones default version, get Azureus. It works great and looks nice-ish.

And Limewire's not bad in a pinch.

i'd go with the above:

azureus is a hard-to-beat BT client.

poisoned used to be good, but hasn't worked for me lately.

don't rule out frogblast (hotline)

I use xfactor too. Pretty happy. For ED2K I use the beta Mac GUI. For BT, I use Azureus.

I'll refer you to Mac P2P Guide and then on to Poisoned, a OpenFT/giFT client (Kazaa). Hopefully, eXeem will develop a Mac client soon, it is a P2P BitTorrent client, i.e. Kazaa powered by a decentralized BitTorrent.

I've recently tried XFactor, and I've been very happy with its connectivity to various networks, and its Mac-like interface. The dealmaker though, is its support for Growl, a wonderful systemwide notification utility.
