93!

Get ad-aware se, Spywareblaster, and AVG.
All work on the superior and most excellent windows 98 OS. Download Internet explorer eradicator, which removes all IE files or just the browser. Best to do this after a fresh install. Even with Firefox though, some spyware will sneak through. If you run a spyware program even before you have ever connected to the internet, it will often find spy ware from here or there, but from where?

I know I'm digitally I'm "prehistoric", but my desktop runs Windows 98 and I can't afford a new computer.

Anybody have a suggestion for spyware that's Windows 98 compatible?

Here is a thought, how about using Opera insted of Firefox. Not that I have anything against it, but I have been using Opera for last one year. I installed Win Xp Sp2 about some months back and I have no problem at all. I installed This Anti spyware from our good friends Microsoft and run it everyday, no spyware detected yet.

I used nLite and customized my Windows installation so that I do not have Internet Explorer at all. So no problems so far

Actually, they are coming out with an antivirus program, too. It's available now I think.... only updates once a month, but it's free. It's a precursor to the one they'll release later this year. (they bought out some european antivirus company last year IIRC)

This is almost as good as the time they were going to come out with an anti-virus program...

Hey assholes, if you'd just make your stuff not suck in the first place you wouldn't have to release more programs at an extra cost to fix the stuff that shouldn't be happening anyway. :(

I'm pretty sure people still using that POS Windows ME wouldn't be smart enough to download anti-spyware software anyways, certainly not a beta.

Do people still use 98? I know some people held on for a while, but with the relative stability that 2000 and XP offer you would think most everyone is finally in using a browser from this century.
