Lost in bigger news yesterday was the fact that Google has released version 2 of Picasa, their photo management program. Even though I have only spent a short time with it, I can say that it’s probably the first non-Apple Apple application that I have seen on the Windows platform. It’s good. It’s beautiful. It’s free.

2Very impressed, especially with ‘export to web’ feature. It sizes images, creats thumbnails, html files, and even the CSS file. And the end result is very clean: Welcome to the world of Google. This is the perfect solution to novice pic bloggers who put up his 5mpxl picture directly from his camera to his ugly site. Now, all they gotta do is make a single link from his main site, and Picasa will do the rest!
*note: No, I did not get money from Picasa for this sales pitch.
