Scrivs: Wowza! Yet, that’s cool though because you’re doing well for yourself considering you sold the Vault and all. I envy your business savvy and your drive.

I’m shooting for my degree in Visual Communications (after 5 or 6 years of attending college).

Anyhow, I’ve been checking out the recipes added to this site and man there are a few recipes that sound delicious and one that even proclaims to ward off vampires. Can you get that kind of message at FoodTV, I think not.

Scrivs: Just how much was that 30″ monitor? I saw one at Best Buy and thought it rocked.

Anyways, as far as the site looking like the 80s? So? I’m a child of that era and don’t mind the look of Wikipes at all.

Then again I might be biased since I contribute to the site. ;)

What is it about cooking and geeks? I've been reading cooking for engineers ever since it was featured in slashdot and already tried out some recipes. I'm going to add this one to my list, just in case I need to come up with new and inventive ways to completely ruin an evening... through no fault of the recipes of course ;)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. The design is simple for a reason; at least it was a goal on my part, to keep it as simple and usable as possible. I made it a priority for it to work on as many devices/browsers as possible. I have to consider the wide range of age groups that will be visiting the site, from the teens all the way up to the elderly.
Most wikis are a lot more bare.

As for the Quick Tutorial button, you may have a point that it is out-of-place. It was something I threw up quick and haven’t touched since, I’ll re-evaluate it.

I’m always looking to improve the site, so I’m open to any help.

I agree, most Wiki designs are limited by the technology that powers them. However, that doesn’t mean the developers of Wikipes couldn’t spruce it up a bit.

I suppose if you really do have issues with the design then it’d be advisable to lend a helping hand. Seeing as though they aren’t selling the recipes I believe this is a non-profit, purely volunteer project.

Strange. It says the site launched in 2005, but it looks like something made in the 80’s. I’m all for fast / clean css sites, but that doesn’t mean it has to be ugly.

And that tutorial button in the center is annoying: It’s the only 3D element in the center of a flat page that can’t be ignored like a pretruding bellybutton. Please move it to a corner, menu, faq section, or anywhere else for that matter.

The site is a good idea, but it just made me loose my appetite.

I just saw FG linked to Wikipes in the logs. Thanks Nicole for the mention. I’ve also fixed the lead part (led), not sure how I missed that, as I’m normally picky about little things like that.
