I knew I would forget it. I suck at remembering important dates. In any case FG turned 1 year old on February 24th. I think that’s pretty cool. It’s very rare that I stick with anything for longer than a year without losing some sort of interest, but FG continues to be fun for me. To commemorate this momentous occassion I am going to give away a prize…*looks around room for some junk*…ahh here we go. Last week I bought the movie Scarface without realizing that it was the fullscreen edition. I wanted the widescreen edition. So instead of returning it I am going to give it away. So there Read more »

How to Destroy the Earth
Sam Hughes has created a nice “must read’ document for any would be plotters against the existence of the Earth. He gives different Earth destroying techniques along with the feasibility of each technique. In short, it’s not easy. If total human genocide is your ultimate goal, you are reading the wrong document. There are far more efficient ways of doing this, many which are available and feasible RIGHT NOW. Nor is this a guide for those wanting to annihilate everything from single-celled life upwards, render Earth uninhabitable or simply conquer it. These are trivial goals in comparison. This is a guide for those who do not want the Earth to Read more »
5 Features Operating Systems Should Have
Brad over at Wincustomize.com has put together a list of things that he believes all operating systems should have. These include: Seamless Distributed Computing Seamless Distributed File System Databases Global User Managment Universal Environments Component Based Operating Systems Only one that really interests me is #1 since I have 2 other computers that at times are sitting idly doing nothing. I should have them crunch how much money I am going to make per second for the next 80 years. What am I talking about? I can do that on my own. $0.0000005 seems about right. via OSNews Read more »

Macgyver DVDs
I thought I’d commemorate my first post here at ForeverGeek by doing a post about the man my alias came from. Macgyver. In case you hadn’t heard, Macgyver season 1 was released on DVD a few weeks ago. The Season 1 DVDs come packed with 6, count ‘em, 6 discs of pure action starring the greatest handyman ever. In case you’ve forgotten what the man, the myth, the legend looks like, here’s a picture of him in all his mullet glory. If you haven’t seen the DVDs, I recommend you borrow them, rent them, or buy them. You’ll immediately be immersed for the next 20 or so hours. In case Read more »
RPG Nicknames
When I was creating my character in a MMORPG a few days ago I went across a strange writer’s block, I couldn´t think of a name for my character. So I started thinking of many nicknames, I tried some Greek mythology ones first but the most common ones were already taken so I ended up going around my room and ended up naming my character after the name of an old Sega Saturn game, Astal. I started thinking about the nicknames that some people use in game and there´s enough info to make some preconceptions out of them. Read more »
Anime Writers
Now that Insert 25 is hitting its stride and FG has an upcoming redesign (looking at late March launch) I guess I should let it be known that I am looking for some anime/manga writers. You may recall that a couple of weeks ago I did a search for the best anime sites and while I did find a ton of great forums and sites with torrent files, I didn’t find an anime site that I truly wanted to visit day in and day out. If you know me well enough you know that when this happens I create a site of my own (eg. Whitespace, CSS Vault, FG, and Read more »
101 Things Mozilla Can Do That IE Cannot
This article lists features, abilities, etc that Mozilla (v 1.2) has that IE 6.0 does not. 101 things — that’s a lot. Granted a few are relatively minor things, but the exhaustive list would definitely be a handy document to have when trying to persuade higher ups that Mozilla/Firefox is the way to go. I have no idea how many things on the list also apply to Firefox, but I would imagine most do. Read more »
Firefox Up to 8.45% Worldwide
Looks like it won’t be long till Firefox reaches the mythical 10% marketshare mark. This is great news and good to see the continued growth of a solid application. I think IT departments have caught on to the fact that using Firefox is just a better decision in a corporate environment unless you are using IE-specific applications (shame on you if you are). “It seems that global usage share of Mozilla’s Firefox is still increasing and the total global usage share of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is still decreasing. It looks like that browser users of Internet Explorer 5 are switching to Mozilla Firefox instead of upgrading to Internet Explorer 6.0″ Read more »
Pimpzilla: The Theme with Bling
I know Firefox theme discussion could fill up an entire blog, but I had to post about Pimpzilla. It’s fur-lined with a leopard print tab bar, gold chromed scroll bars, iced navigation icons, and is otherwise pimped out. I’ve been using the theme for over a week and haven’t tired of it yet. Watch for the little extra bling when you hover over navigation icons. [ via lyd ] Read more »
