1It sucks to have to download a whole new build to get a friggin update. I’m on a 8mbps connection that’ll take seconds to dl, but it’s still another series of unnecesary steps that I have to take. Is it so damn hard to implement an update feature?
Seriously, I must have downloaded this thing like ten times already. So Firefox has over 25mil downloads? I wonder what that translates to in terms of actual users.
I like *using* firefox, but it sometimes feel as if I’d be wasting less effrot to run antivirus and adaware more frequently than to update firefox and extentions.
The main reason Microsoft beat Netscape is integration with OS, which made it easier for the average Joe. Firefox isn’t any easier for an average Joe. This will be the ultimate Firefox killer unless they do something soon.

2Firefox HAS an update system. When it detects an update is available the little ‘page loading’ icon top right turns into a blue icon with a bell in it.
Sadly it’s a feature which hardly ever seems to work automatically, and even when prompting it to do a manual update it’s not picked up the new firefox build.

3Do I have to uninstall/reinstall or can I just run the new .exe?

4Firefox 1.0.1 won’t be available through the built-in update mechanism for a couple of days due to server load issues. At least, that’s what I’ve heard. You can always just wait until it’s available then and not worry about doing a manual reinstall.

5I just installed it at work computer, but it conflicted with either my theme or one of the extentions: FF froze on every startup and I couldn’t even remove the skin. I didn’t want to bother debugging, so I manually deleted it, cleared the FF preferance in Windows, and reinstalled. Since their servers are overloaded, I’m stuck with the ugly standard theme and no extentions.
This kind of thing makes Microsoft updates look like heaven. I mean, when’s the last time you’ve had problems with their security patches?

6I followed the link for this article and downloaded the setup, but my version is still saying 1.0. Did anyone else get this problem?

7Firefix suggests uninstalling 1.0 first before installing 1.0.1… But I have problems with 1.0.1 and I suggest not upgrading till they fix these bugs.
