I forget a lot of times that just because I don’t need something that others out there won’t jump at the opportunity to scoop up a deal when it becomes available. TextDrive, the hosting service by TextPattern’s Dean Allen, is going through a second round of VC and is offering a bargain of a deal: $399 gets you lifetime hosting.
Here is what the plan includes:
- 1 gigabyte server space (unmetered mail and database storage)
- 20 gigabytes of bandwidth per month
- up to 15 top-level domains (with unlimited aliases)
- unlimited email mailboxes & aliases
- shell access
Hopefully they are around long enough to recomp your money, but with the support they have and the great reviews I have been hearing from people they shouldn’t have any problems at all.

I currently run a small time hosting company and cannot possibly conceive how this is even feasable..lifetime hosting? thats a little purposterous if you ask me.
Well they did it once already so I am sure it worked for one reason or another. I don’t know the logistics of running a web hosting company, but I can only assume that if you get enough people to jump on the offer that there is a point where you are turning a profit.
Also once you get one person hooked, they use word of mouth to bring in the other people.
There are other companies also offering this. Take a look at:

Well I have been using Foreverhost.us for lifetime hosting for several years and have had great service. You may want to look at them.
The lifetime plan there is only 49.99
