In case you were waiting for this, it’s now available for purchase. Oh yeah, and it’s 10% off the $1199 price, so you can get it for just under $1080. Did you hear that? 24 inches of LCD goodness for $1080. The cheapest 23″ or 24″ mammoth I’ve seen exceeds $1600.
Let the frenzy begin.

Damn I just might get this to have around or something. Damn. Damn. Damn. Stupid Dell.
I am soooooo tempted, but I’ve finally set my mind on two Hyundai L90D+ 19″ panels. I know the 24″ widescreen is productive, but there’s nothing but good stuff said about the L90D+ and it’s 8ms response time.
I’m super skittish of Dell after the 2005FPW problems and this is just too new to bite.
Well it’s only $1004 now! (http://cheap.typepad.com/cheapster/2005/03/blazing_hot_bes.html)
At that price you can almost afford to run dual panel 24″ monitors side by side in portrait mode.
I have the 20″ version of this display and it was a good deal, but the LCD stand is not as elegant as it could be. And the Dell surround sound speaker kit has a very ugly center speaker that docks underneath the display. I should have waited for the Apple Cinema displays to drop in price (because they did).
I bit the bullet myself and ordered the 2005FPW, after mulling over dual 19ers for some time. The widescreen notion finally got to me and the simplicity of just one display; plus it offers multiple inputs and USB 2.0, so once the price dipped below $500, it made more sense.
The downside of the ACD is DVI-only and a $999 price tag. The 2005FPW has the exact same screen size and seems to offer so much more. I’ve heard some bad rap about it, but I guess I decided it was worth the risk.
I just got the 2405FPW 3 days ago and am loving it. I have it set up alongside with my 19″ CRT and have one comment: “Loose the CRT – This DELL LCD rocks!!”.
