Whilst i agree Sony have the market, they did not cater for the fact people wanted PC style games on consoles.

Not long after X-box came out, whole new genre’s of games came out for all console that previously were straight to PC games.

X-box brought about that revolution, there is no doubt that a lot has to be done yet for microsoft and the developers who are working soley for Microsoft if they want to perpaetuatate all this hardwork, whilst they built the online style gaming to what it is……(credit goes to sega)

Playstation this time around will struggle with the fan’s leaving in droves once the new release date is given for x-box 2, which as we all expect will be before PS3.

My mind also tells me people are more willing to have both consoles rather than have just the one. But lets be very clear. the XBOX 2 will out manouver and out perform the sony PS3 in every arena when released.

The King is dead – long live the Xbox.

im only gonna say one thing Playstation will never fall. As far as graphics the FMV’s off FFX and FFX-2 are amazing. And did anyone forget MGS snake eater was also a great game and realistically the backwards compatibility of the PS2 held it back but the emotion engine of the ps2 is far superior to anything I’ve delt with. And not to mention the fact the ps2 is running half the power of the x-box is also a big factor. And x-box did come out after the ps2. But newayz like i was saying for the stats of the Ps2 it holds its own more than enough. Plus the lack of good in depth games on the x-box is another thing. Ps2 has hundreds of titles. suprisingly half of them being good. And just cuz the x-box has a harddrive don’t mean jack ps2 has one too. but regardless were talking about quality not quantity. Mind you ps3 will rule no backward compatibility to hold it back maybe a processor in the giga hertz who knows all i know be prepared to be suprised.. …..

I’ve read each of these postings and I must say that I’m impressed. You all do share a gaming passion. Starting this week, the stats on XBOX live are restarting and a few new maps are being uploaded to the system. I also understand that Bungie will continue to be updating the game. I’m beginning to get the notion that Halo 2 was simply a prtotype… a pacifier to keep both fans and competition at bay. at any rate I’ll have to say hands down that Halo 2 is the SH!T. byt the way how would you guys say is DOOM 3 in comparison to Halo 2. I’m talking online and in campaign. All XBOX Live ppl, my gamertag is Victor Spadez. Gt at me.

I think that Sony and Microsoft should merge and make a video game console. That console would be flawless in that Sony provides good games and software while Microsoft provides good hardware. If that really happened we could all say good bye to Nintendo.

well you all have good points and all, but i have to go with xbox it is cool. i like hallo alot iv spent 100eds of hours on that game, but when you think about it they have to do a vary good thing to stay in the top video game space… gosh ps2 is good i like it, all of my friends have it i dont…. i have an xbox it is fun but they need neww games 4 xbox….#61 has a good head in this he knows wat he is talking about….but over all…..videogames r fun and that is all i want. ps2 or xbox if it is fun i will play it.

Ok first of all i own all 3 systems and to speak clearly halo 2 was an awesome game in comparison to many ps2 titles but all you assholes are ignoring the fact that besides halo, xbox doesnt have other great titles.

Fable, mechassault, some others.But those games have and will never sell more than all those smashing titles that are released for PS2

a console is not sustained by one game. you guys are talking like halo 3 can compeat with all those titles that the ps2 has.

Why is everyone saying Halo2 was the most selling game ever? Half-Life 2 kicks arse when it comes to sale figures.

Also, the XBOX is not really a console, its an automatic PC with hardware and software that run on the same technology as every PC. It has just been optimized for “idiot” use.

As for the PS3, since the technical stats are still in the stars, Sony will create a strong contender. On terms of sales, PS2 has outsold XBOX at least twice over. These are numbers based on fact and even for the XBOX a lot of MS Employees considered the project a flop, because more was invested than gained at the end of the day.

Sony has a strong contender against the XBOX. With its Final Fantasy Series, Gran Tourismo Series, Metal Gear Solid Series these are all strong games that eat a 5 hour ego shooter fun to the stars as litterally the PS2 offeres more gameplay time than most xbox, cube, pc games.

I personally felt a little sold short on Halo 2, in my eyes the game became a little too lateral and was far shorter than the first. Visually yes it was stunning the rendering was better and they threw in some good effects, but I didnt get the buzz out of it like did when i first got halo. Sure i suffered the same nervous antcipation like the first time round but once the disc was in and the feature length sequences were all done there was very little to keep me going back.
I love all the work bungie has done previously but despite what i have written i believe H1&2 are the best i have seen, but i also know that Bungie has a surprise in store for all the Halo and Non-halo fans out there. Yes Halo 3 is in the pipeline, but they will not announce it just yet for two reason’s:
* If no-one knows it’s in production they can release it when they like. they will not need to trucate timelines to get oit out by a previously printed date in which the content and quality will not be what it should.
* The competition are not expecting it and beleive that they have a larger lead time for the release of the game, enabling them to counter by Developing/releasing another mammoth game to the same schedule.

As a previous person said, it is all about disinformation and discrediting the opposition. SonyPS has the market currently, GTA certainly and Gran Turismo series are there big markets, if MS want to compete, then they must give nothing away and blow them out of the water with a string of great releases. XBox-2 (360/Xenon) with Halo 3 and FIfa 06. thats right november 05 is the release date – wtch out may 13th cos the gaming world will be rocked.

nVidia is going to power the Sony’s PlaySation Graphics, ATi is goint to be on Xbox 2, The PS3 will come out AFTER the Xbox2, nVidia is the King of OpenGL, ATi Wins by 5 Frames :/ On DX9, and nVidia wins on OpenGL by 20 yo 40 Frames… :/, Im not a PS fan, I own an Xbox, but nVidia Owns ATi, with the new 6 series, nVidia has been whooping ATi’s ass even on DX9, The only game where nvidia looses is Half Life2, cus the Source Enginge was made on purpose for ATi, But OpenGL= Professional Graphics, DiRect3d= Shit, only meant for gaming. So, what do you want? Professional Graphics (OpenGL) or crappy MSIL core (With bad x86 compability) Direct3d (which is less realistic then OpenGL). Oooh yeah, the 5 fps which ATi’s beats nVida is Half Life 2 :/. So don’t post bullshit, Im not a PS Fan, and im not an Xbox fan, im a OPenGL Lover, Why? because my Life’s Work depends on OpenGL, Its the only High End i know, i use nvidias chips for my work, it sure owns the crapy FireGL which is only good for WireFrame Mode :D… ATi Sux. So next time, think about what you guys post, do some little research on the Console Specs, bur im not a console gamer, A pc will always OWN a crappy console.

I’m not exactly sure why I’m posting this considering this article is nearly two months old but I figured I’d give my two cents for those who wander onto this article.

I have played Halo and Halo 2. I agree that they can be fun games but they are definitely not the best first person shooter. Timesplitters has my vote for best console based FPS while Half-Life/Counter-Strike has my vote for best PC FPS.

Also, it’s pointless to argue that one is going to be better than the other. If both release dates do coincide with each other, then I can guarantee the follow. Fans of Playstation will buy the PS3, fans of Halo will buy Halo 3 and then there will be those who buy both. Trying to compare a game to a console is like trying to compare apples and fetuses. =P

As for people saying the XBox has awesome graphic, I would like to add that Star Wars:KotOR looks terrible on the console as compared to my computer and I’m running the game on a 2.4GHz P4 and GeForce FX 5200 graphics card. Yeah, I know, I need a new computer. =/
