Have a few pixels of free space in your menu bar that you want to fill in? Check out this uber list of OS X menubar apps. These are the types of apps that sort of run int he background, only revealing themselves in the menu bar.
They failed to include my favorite, GmailStatus, however they did include a few other great apps, like WinSwitch, Quicksilver and Synergy.

1i included gcount (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~natan/gcount/) instead because i like it better. :)
