This isn’t the review that I referred to earlier, but I think it’s fair of me to provide you with my quick initial thoughts after using the toy for a couple of hours.
Ooo, It’s Shiny…Damn I Touched It
Unless you have actively removed fingerprints from your hands this thing will get plenty of marks on it, which is a shame because the damn thing is damn beautiful. Almost too nice. Like you just want to put it in a glass case and never allow a single person to touch it.
The Screen
Everyone talks about how the screen is what makes the device. You know what? Those people are the most brilliant folks in the world. The screen is perfection (assuming you got one without any dead pixels). It’s like seeing a plasma screen for the first time.
I just got done watching Spiderman 2 on it and really it put my 30″ LCD TV to shame with regards to image quality. Oh and this was the first time I saw Spiderman 2 and it’s a damn good movie.

Based on this initial impressions if you like handheld games and killer graphics and cool shit, then buy this…or wait for the contest where we will be giving one away. More indepth analysis later.
Stupid me. I just bought an Ipaq RX3110 45 days ago (just outside of the return policy). I thought I would use it to manage my life at home and work. Not so much… I’d rather use my time fingers deep in a vid at the office than trying to schedule my day.
Im going to have to majorly disagree with you. I think the psp is an ok handheld to some people, but to others its a horrible one and im on the side that thinks its horrible. I have to agree the screen and graphics are awesome compared to the ds. Thats about the only good thing on the psp. Think about do you want to double your game collection with games you already have i have THUG 2 and NFSU 2 so why do i want the same game. also about the music and movies the nintendo ds is coming out with the play-yan which enables it to play music and movies off an sd card (which is cheaper) and if you want to pay $350.00 Can for this peice of hard ware when you could wait and buy an xbox 2 then go ahead thats my comment.
I’m getting so tired of the “do you want to double your game collection with games you already have” argument from GBA owners. It’s completely ridiculous. The GBA has the same if not higher percentage of remakes than the PSP does, and it just came out yesterday! Launch games are more likely to be rehashes as companies are learning how to program for the system, they have to rush to get them out as quickly as possible.
Which would rather play on your handheld, remakes of NES and SNES games or remakes of PS2 games?
I love my PSP. The only major drawback that I have not considered before buying it is the sheer size of the thing. Besides the guilt of having to put fingerprints on it, I can’t just shove the PSP into my pocket because I’m afraid it will get scratched. Plus it’s twice the size of a closed GBA. At least with the Nintendo DS, the screen is protected, so there’s no problem there.
I have to carefully put the PSP back in the soft case and then put it in my small bag; a bag that I carry around with me since I got it — and I’m a guy :)
Anyway, other that me being paranoid about any scratches, the PSP is a great unit.
