Consumating

Okay I have never used a dating site before, but I have been to a couple to see if I could find someone to have a wonderful conversation with while enjoying a long slow walk on the beach. Preferrably, I would want a girl who can beat me in videogames and doesn’t mind doing her own thing while I sit on my computer all day and ignore her. If she can understand why I get so many emails per day and doesn’t have to badger me about what I do for a living then all the better…

But I digress. Consumating is supposed to be a dating site for geeks, but it doesn’t really fit that description. Okay so they implemented Tags, which seems to be every new web services “it” factor. Does that make the site for geeks only? Of course not, because I still see the same type of people on here that I see on every other dating site. So what makes this site a dating site for geeks?

Hell if I know.

What the site does have though is a sense of humor. Date ratings are either thumbs up or thumbs down whether or not you would “do” that person. Sort of like hot or not I suppose. Oooo, look they even have porn text ads!

You still get the same stupid guys saying all the stupid things with girls posting pics that don’t quite show you the whole picture (probably because us guys are known for judging women based on physical appearances). Basically, it’s another dating site unless I have missed something.

So what is the best dating site for geeks? irc.

I don’t really use any dating sites, but I’ve been shown http://okcupid.com – I tried out one of their tests and it was interesting. Seems to have a sense of humor too.

Yeah I played with Ok/Cupid. It gets too cute when trying to match me with others based on test results. Some of the test are fun as hell to take though since they are created by the users themselves. A good strategy. Write some questions and see how people respond.

As a girl geek, I tend to have the same problem, believe it or not. After all, you need to have similar levels/areas of geekiness in order to be a good match and finding that similarity is tougher than you’d think. Or maybe I’m just too picky.

Hell if you like sushi then we might have to talk.

    LOL

Or you could get off your lazy asses and go to the nearest mall.

    (sorry bad day)

Hey man, I know you have been running around every entry making comments and that’s cool. Even though you never have much to say I appreciate you visiting. But I don’t think you read what I was saying. I don’t have a problem meeting girls and never stated that I do.

And what adult goes to the mall to pickup women? Let’s try a bar or a club or something.

  7. Matt Burris says:

Bars and nightclubs are rebound central, women who can’t live without guys, and tend to hop around.

Malls are where immature and money-hungry women go, not a good place to pick them up, if you ask me.

Grocery stores are where lonely housewives hang at, and unless you like them older and married, avoid picking them up there.

I found the best place to pick up women are either sporting events, restaurants, or at the local park.

For computer game geeks I found: http://www.mmodating.com/
(look up mmorpg if you don’t understand the website name). Only one page of women :x

I also tried http://www.hotornot.com and did a keyword search for “mmorpg”, “everquest”, “geek” etc.

There are different kinds of geeks out there so try different keywords.

    My 2 cents…

Geek 2 Geek is at http://www.gk2gk.com. It calls itself the best place on the net to meet geeks. It differs from other datting services in that it doesn’t allow pictures or physical descriptions, “because geeks just don’t care about looks”. I have had success on it, it has had some good press, being featured on slashdot.com.

There is a new site I found on a promo myspace page called http://www.sweetongeeks.com. It was under construction in May, O6 but it seems to be up now. It’s got great features, fun stuff on the home page…although it’s not heavily populated yet. It’s free so it’s basically zero risk. It seems to be more focused for grown up geeks. As a geek chick I hope it attracts good, professional geek men who will appreciate the geek girls!!!!!
