It was more narrow, easier to grasp in one glance (I'm going left-to-right at 1024x768, like others have said), and less "corporate" in appearance. And as Nicole already said, FG did get a loath of fresh air indeed, and it really needed that foremost. Usability wise, it's good, but not great, if you try "tab-navigating" for you to get to the search box you must first go through the left and middle column links, which isn't very good, but apart from that you can get to all the main links quickly. The site does not validate as transitional, but some of the errors w3c points out are almost impossible to work around, so I'll give it a 3 out of 5. But still, a great work was done, congratulations.
