For me Thunderbird is as good at filtering spam as I am at telling it what is and is not spam, in other words it gets better as it goes.

gmail on the other hand used (I think) data from the whole system to build it’s filters, so as long as the vast majority of people agree with you on what is and is not spam, it would in theory work better.

I guess it is about how much you want to “teach” your mail app, that really makes the difference.

In my experience, GMail is much better than Thunderbird at stopping Spam.

I haven't tried t-bird yet. I guess I'm part of the problem but I doubt it'll work with exchange accounts, will it?

Just switch to Thunderbird, which has a very Bayesian nice spam filter.

Insane. Not 15 minutes ago I was just sitting at work looking at spam in my copprate exchange account and next to none in the inbox of my gmail account. I was thinking that doing just this sort of thing would work great.
