Just got done reading Ars Technica’s A History of the GUI and am pleased by it’s indepth history analysis of the subject. On many forums you often encounter flamewars where people proclaim that KDE stole from Microsoft, who stole from Apple, who stole from Xerox and so on and so on. After reading the article you will see how everyone was building off the other and without that we wouldn’t even be close to where we are now with GUI technology.

It’s a long read, but after reading it you will definitely walk away with a better understanding of the GUI and a great appreciation for the innovation that has taken place over that last couple of decades.

Of all the GUIs I have interacted with I must say that OS X is the top one for ease of use. Just an opinion and not fact so please don’t flame me.
