I should be ashamed to admit that I do not own a PVR box, but not really since my television watching is very limited. However, if I owned a TiVo I would be following this step-by-step guide on how to hack it. This includes adding storage, wiring your TiVo to your LAN, installing software on it and extracting video.
Now if the next Xbox does this, or at least features the capabilities to do so it will be a goldmine (hint, hint).
I guess I should get around to installing mythTV on this spare PC to see what I can come up with.

1Follow this guide: http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php
and it will make MythTV much much easier to install. If you don’t care what flavor of Linux you use, there are some other version of the MythTV install like KnoppMyth http://www.mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html that are supposed to be really easy to get up and running.
