The DVD of the first film for the popular anime series Naruto was released a few days ago, and of course, was in a very short period fan subbed and shared through file sharing programs, mainly bit torrent. I was pretty interested in seeing the movie, because on narutofan.com they mentioned that the movie would be an action movie but would also share some things about one of the character’s (Kakashi’s) past, which it doesn’t, well nothing palpable.

Cliche’ness aside, it’s uncensored which is good, the animation work is also pretty good, but it’s nothing more than what you can expect from the anime.

The story is dull, predictable and full of action sequences with a joke or two between them to try and spice things up, but it doesn’t. If I were to rate it from one to five, I’d rate it somewhere between a two and a three. Even the Power Rangers movie (don’t ask) had a more elaborate script.

Bottom line, only watch it if you have time to waste or just simply nothing better to do with it, you won’t win or lose anything from watching this movie, you’ll probably just be numb at the end of it. This movie was clearly made to promote Naruto as a franchise, not for the enjoyment of Naruto fans.
