Not sure how many in the FG nation use IE on a regular basis, much less to browse XML files, but the folks over at the IEBlog have confirmed an issue that was being reported after installing Netscape 8.

Apparently, if you try to browse to an XML file, such as an RSS feed for an XML file with an XSLT transformation applied to it, using IE, you will get a blank page rather than the data.

Although they do not say what exactly causes it, they have posted a work around until the issue can be resolved better.

  1. Uninstall Netscape 8
  2. START->RUN
    1. Type: regedit
    2. Hit ENTER
    3. Navigate to the following:
    4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension
    5. Highlight and right-click the node titled “xml” and select delete.
    6. Restart Internet Explorer
