IGN is reporting that an article published by a Japanese newspaper quotes an official from Sony who apparently told the newspaper that the PS3 would sell for “less than 50,000 yen each”.

Assuming that the price difference between the US and Japanese versions of the PS3 are not huge, that translates to somewhere around $465 for the system in the US.

Comparitively, the XBox 360 is rumored to have two price points, $299 and $399, which I guess means there will be two different XBox 360 systems released with different specs.
