I think it was an awesome movie……I am a huge anime fan and had heard that kenshin was among the best animes around…..I watched the series first and then this movie……this movie has some great action(whatever little of it) and some great drama…..I think this is a masterpiece among all the animes that I have watched till now and hats off to the mangakka for making one of the best and complex anime characters.

I recommed watching it before the series, it helps explain what made kenshin the kind of person he is, and why he left the name battousai behind. I think it’s a grea movie, and very dramatic; so it’s not for people who cry really easy

Yes it is, and that translation is correct. I’m not sure if I recommend watching before or after the series.

If you watch it before, you’ll see some of the events with a different perspective.

If you watch it after you’ll think about the series and understand the how and why of the outcome of Kenshins personality throughout.

Either way, it’s a great movie.

The sword technique is “Hiten Mitsurugi Style” (sp?) in english, not sure of the original form. This is a good prelude to Rurouni Kenshin, although it takes the title “Samurai X”, along with 2 other OVA’s. It can be watched independently and even after watching the 96(!) episode series.
