Well I have been getting a ton of emails and the contest thread has gotten out of control with comments so I guess I should announce the winner.
Congratulations to Joshua Dick who wrote the Ubuntu 5.04 Hoary Hedgehog Review. He was one of the few to actually write an article that looked like an article and one that generated a large amount of outside links (sign of good quality) and a great discussion (sigh of good quality). Actually it was the highest trafficked page all of last month on FG so it was hard not to call him the winner.
I would like to thank everyone that participated. Plenty more contests in the future.

congrats, josh. well done.
having said that, if i were to hold a contest, i wouldn’t have the number of comments or links as criteria to compare two articles on two different sites. it seems pretty logical that the already-established site will already have a larger reader-base and hence more comments and hits than the upstart site.
linking the article on the smaller site to the larger site evens this out to an extent, but not only does a full-blown article receive more attention than a simple link, but also the decision to follow the link to the other site is often based upon the description of the link.
i guess on the other hand it’s harder to come up with qualitative rather than quantitative criteria, so numbers like hits and comments are easier to base a verdict upon.
Congrats! :D
Thank you, all, and thanks especially to Scrivs, for starting this contest and for choosing me as the winner. :)
Now every day when I get home I keep hoping there will be a box waiting for me. ;) In time, right?
i want to win a psp.
