Two years ago when Apple announced they would start development on their own browser they decided to go with the KHTML engine inside of KDE instead of Gecko by the Mozilla Foundation. The move sent minor shockwaves throughout the Open Source community because Mozilla was, and still is, the big daddy on the web browser block.
Two years later there seems to be some discontent from the KDE side concerning the relationship. There are just too many noteworthy quotes to post in this entry so make sure to read the CNet article on the “divorce”. One important aspect to remember about this relationship though is that too many this is seen as being an exception to the rule of corporations getting along with Open Source developers when it comes to using their code.
