Google search box wider or not, it’s not an issue. It’s searches are always W-I-D-E-R !! :)

Jeremy: I just noticed that it was! I keep it as my homepage and always a tab in firefox but I usually use the search bar thats in firefox.

In 2003 the search bar size was 256. Today, the search bar size is still 256.

They got rid of the “New” that was next to Local and it caused the search box to appear wider in relation to the text above.

I do know that a few weeks ago they moved the placement of the Google logo. It is closer to the top of the page now…and farther away from the search box and links. That may give the impression that it is longer. Whitespace can play tricks on the eye.

Looks the same as always to me, but I did some extra investigation. A comparison of today's search box size to that of March 2003 shows them to be the same.
