Wireless Myths Debunked

Matthew Gast has published a list of common wireless myths, along with answers to them that seem to counter the myths.

Technical books often can’t see the trees for the forest. Describing how the technology works takes a back seat to larger themes, and writing a book takes place on a much slower time scale than the news cycle. In the course of preparing the second edition of 802.11 Wireless Networks: The Definitive Guide, I noticed several myths that repeatedly popped up in popular wireless coverage that I’d like to debunk.

Matthew tackles myths on wireless security, the threat of AirSnort (WEP-key sniffing), comparisons between the G and A protocols, and about 7 others.

A great read for anyone with an interest in wireless Internet.

I don’t see latency addressed. I assume that noticable (for games) latency is added to your connection when connecting wirelessly.
