The move to 1GB was promised as “coming soon” a while back, and it looks like it’s finally here. I was greeted this morning with a roomy gig of mail quota.
Anyone else seen this jump? And please don’t tell me this happened days ago, and I just didn’t notice.

1Yep I got it as well. Soon I will have over a terabyte of storage just from email services.

3Heh maybe email providers should provide reasonable space AND (get this) more innovative features, or a better interface or superior spam filtering…
Theres no point having a ‘dick waving contest’ because google will easily trounce the other services in that department. You are gonna have to aim for quality to go with your quantity.
As far as I can tell google are on top in almost all arias of webmail such as a nicely features light interface, filters, labels, much more space, pop access I believe (don’t use) and probably more I havnt thought of.

4The hard work of the last 7 or 8 years that I’ve put into filling my Y! inbox has taken a serious hit in the last few months. Now only 2% of my quota. I guess it’s better than 98% and getting warnings everyday.

5Well I have 2164 megs and growing….
On a more serious note, what are the differences between a Yahoo and a Google account?

6Gmail = Yahoo * 2
I personally prefer the Gmail interface, the filtering, labels, and its also less crowded (you can probably get a username you want).

7Its been almost a week I think. I’m using about 8% of space at the moment. It took them long enough to upgrade it to 250MB, now with the most recent 1GB upgrade, how long will it take for the next upgrade? Whereas, Google started with 1GB, and now offers 2GB.

8Gmail just got better. You can now always allow external images from specified addresses, where previously you had to repeatedly click to show external images.

9I personally like Yahoo better. I mean, what’s a gig between friends? Of course, I might be biased because I already have 8 (9?) years’ worth of email and contacts built up in Yahoo!. I don’t find the interface clunky (as some do), and I like changing my theme as I desire. A couple downsides: the ads are more prominent than in Gmail, and filters are capped at 15.
