Since the rumors began, and especially since the official announcement at WWDC, people have been wondering what kind of Pentium processor would Apple would use when it makes the switch next year.
According to an article at ComputerWorld, the first Apple machines using Intel processors will use the Pentium M.
The first Apple systems in 2006 will use Intel’s Pentium M processor, according to sources familiar with the companies’ plans. The Pentium M uses the same x86 architecture as the Pentium 4 but consumes far less power. Its design philosophy is expected to be the model for Intel’s future processors.
Coincidentally, this is the same processor that AOpen’s “Pandora” will be using.

2Griffith, I agree with you, after reading tomshardware.com’s explainations and testing of how well of a performer Pentium M processors are when given the right chipset. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Aopen chose the Pentium M. I’ve seen several homebrew systems on hardforums.com using Pentium M’s, and they, from the specs, they look awesome.
Anyway, I was looking to build a new windows box, and was thinking of going the Pentium M route, once more motherboard manufacturers start building desktop boards made for the M.
