Gamespot is quoting an interview that Sony’s Ken Kutaragi gave to Impress PC Magazine, where he says that the Sony PS3 hard drives will be able to run Linux.

Kutaragi disclosed that he plans to install the Linux operating system on the PS3’s hard disc drive (HDD) so it will be recognized as a computer, rather than a mere console.

Basically, but running an OS and using the new Cell processor technology, the PS3 can be viewed as more of a supercomputer than just a gaming console.
