As the production date approaches for the new (and last?) X-Men movie so do details and and rumors, so I decided to do a little digging and see what I could come up with.

From a reliable source (playback magazine) we hear that production will begin in the 2nd of August and will be done with a budget of 100 million dollars in the Vancouver studios, where they also shot the previous film.

Also, some X-Men fansites mentioned that a new female mutant would be introduced so I dug around for a more reliable source and found an article (killermovies.com) mentioning it:

“The next X-Men movie, X-Men 3, will introduce a new mutant. The mutant will be a sexy woman whose superpower is secreting a pheromone that helps her seduce men. “She can seduce anyone,” a source told the New York Post.”

(Don’t all women have this pheromone? [well ok, not all women but you get my drift])

As for the story itself, according to a few sources, the story will be based on the Dark Phoenix chapter of the comics (quite a big skip). Even though it seems that that it hasn’t been confirmed, this is the text that has been spread through numerous sites:

“Third installment of the X-Men films. According to Donna Shuler, the third part will revolve around the Phoenix saga. Reports indicate the producers want to skip ahead and go straight into the Dark Phoenix story. New characters rumored to be in X3 include Gambit, Beast, Angel, Psylocke, Emma Frost, Dazzler, Juggernaut and possibly the Sentinels.”

Besides these two rumors, the rest seem to be the average “who’s going to play the role of XPTO” articles with little or no fundament whatsoever so I won’t bother posting them.
