If things were made/designed properly, we would never need to scroll horizontally, and much less, diagonally. The best use I see for the “ball” is to view large sized images in detail, it is probably great for Photoshop, but in normal image viewing programs I preffer to click on the image and drag to what I want to see, it offers much more control than any scroll wheel/ball.

Isnt the whole top surface programable, so you could even have finger gestures or a whole number of buttons in theory?

I quite like this actually, wonder how it is to actually use though….

Form is nice, especially when it supplements function. The form of this mouse simply gets in the way of function.
