BS Player is nice and light but you get better image quality “out of the box” with Media Player Classic. I have both, but I always end up using MPC.

Among the pounds of freeware I’ve used over the years, one program stands out as indispensible: PowerPro (http://powerpro.webeddie.com).

Behind this glitzless Web site is a program which has replaced at least a dozen utilities I used to run. Custom launch menus, run macros, schedule/automate events, virtual desktops, hot keys…the list goes on. Steep learning curve but incredible power–and quality programming.

Great feedback.

I totally forgot about Anti-Virus…my bad. I use AVG as well. I think that everyone should, so I forget that everyone doesn’t.

As for spyware, I know many people love Ad-aware, and really, put on as many programs as you can to stop that annoying garbage software.

Joseph, you are the reason that this site is here. You need to be edu-micated (educated) my friend. Ad-Aware is for Spyware and adware, not viruses, atleast last time I checked.

And Doug, I have not tried PSPad, actually it is the first I have heard of it, but I will have to check it out.

Note that Ad-Aware isn’t an antivirus application, but an anti-spyware/-adware program.

I used AVG for a while and it’s fairly popular in the freeware community, but I’ve come to prefer avast! after hearing some unflattering results from AVG. My second choice is AntiVir. And for spyware, Ad-Aware is a must alongside Spybot.

(Also, I should mention that my page is primarily a list of programs I’ve actually used and personal recommend, not just a big ol’ list of everything out there.)
