Internet stat company NetApplications released news claiming that Firefox has lost marketshare for the first time since its 1.0 release.
Firefox’s share shrunk to 8.07 percent from 8.71 percent in June, while IE grew its market slice to 87.20 percent in July from 86.56 percent last month.
Between January and June of this year, Firefox had posted monthly market share gains of between 0.5 percent and 1 percent at the expense of IE, according to NetApplications.com, which compiles its browser usage data from more than 40,000 Web sites monitored by its HitsLink.com service.
Could this be because of the IE7 Beta? Although it is a loss, it seems like a small loss.

2Please remember that this was taken from 40k sites, which is nothing compared to the actual number of sites on the internet. Also, if most of those sites are business related then the chances are that IE will have more strength in the stats because some work platforms don’t even allow the workers to use any of their own software.
Actually, I don’t think there is any certain way of telling how much of the internet share is taken by each browser, sure, we might have an idea, but it’s impossible to have a certain number.

3It doesn’t happen everytime a new story is posted, it happens when the poster forgets to put the category, I tried rebuilding the site to fix it but it didn’t, so it’s up to him to fix it himself.

4Shouldn’t an easy fix be to have one category picked by default? If you need to change it, update it later on.

5Probably, I’ll ask the boss what he can do about it, but in the past it’s always been like this. At least from when I joined it was, if I forgot to put a category the comments and design would get messed up.
