This was announced a few weeks back, and it seems to have just gained all kinds of steam.
Henrico County Schools had the brilliant idea of selling $50 iBook laptops on a first come first served policy, which had many repercussions. All hell broke loose when the Richmond International Raceway gates opened. At first glance, pictures of “the iBook Massacre at Richmond International” might look like a riot against the ongoing war in Iraq, a G8 protest, or a championship celebration in Detroit, but sadly $50 antiquated laptops was the only reason to trample mothers and children in Richmond.
Apparently, some people will buy cheap computers at all costs.
Update: Here is a slideshow of photos from the iBook sale.

1I had thought about trying to get one, since I actually did have a Henrico County utility bill as resident ID… but I didn’t want to deal with the ridiculous number of people that were going to be there just to probably not get one.
