I run a few websites, and am always looking for new tools to find out what is going on with the Internet in regards to my site. I found a really neat tool from iWebTool.com called Backlink Checker which helps me find out who is linking to me or talking about me. I have even found links that I never knew about to images, or small movie clips that I did not post the address to online, yet they are linked from another site.
Find out who’s linking to you and their Pagerank, description, language and size. The Pagerank is recieved from the Google server and may be different from the Google Toolbar.
I assume the results would be inaccurate for finding who is linking to it. The tool would give you an insight into the internet trends of those who are visiting your site.
Think about this scenario: A user has the webbrowser open, but minimized. They get a link to your site through an external application (email, rss, instant messenger, etc). Upon clicking the link it focuses the current browser and loads up your page. The back link would direct to the page they were previously viewing. The page could have been unrelated to your site. This would explain why you are seeing images and movies in the results.

Actually it is because a person in a forum linked to an image I had in an images folder.
He must of found it through a small bit of digging, found it interesting and linked to it in a forum post he made about the image.
Not that I mind, as long as he is not snagging gigs of bandwidth a little publicity never hurt.
Hrm…I don’t think I am getting all my results, simply because I know LifeHacker linked to me, and when I ran the test, there was no backlink to be found, even though I still get hits from their website.
Hmm…Well nothing is perfect, but it is interesting.

I have tried the tools quite a number of times but each times it seems to bring in new numbers, hence in few attempts I could get at least 50% links I know of.

I used this tool and it returned about 300 links that weren’t even linking to my site… I think they were trying to send me to another site to simply click on links for them to make more money

Tool is good, but sometimes it show backlinks from somebody’s statistic tool, like Webalizer. Those are not real backlinks, but rather they show how somebody get to those pages.
